The actor came to her house and took Applegate, her mother — actress Nancy Priddy — and her friend Lori Allison, who was married to Johnny Depp at the time, to the awards ceremony. However, when she arrived there, Applegate said she couldn’t take her eyes off Sebastian Bach, the singer of the band Skid Row.
“I felt so powerful and confident for the first time that when the ceremony ended, I left with Sebastian Bach, not Brad Pitt. I hate putting it this way, but Brad at that time was still making his way as an actor, and he wasn’t yet the Brad Pitt, the dream man of so many people,” she explained.
Applegate then revealed that when Brad left to take her mother back home, the actor got into an argument with members of a gang at a gas station. “And, not surprisingly, he became very angry with me,” the actress admitted.
“We didn’t talk for many years after that. Much later… two of [Pitt’s] girlfriends asked me if it was true that I was the girl who left Brad behind at the MTV Video Music Awards. Brad apparently told both of them that he was still angry with me.”
“Eventually, we agreed that I had been a child at the time, and although he deserved much more, it was time to forgive the girl who left him for the Skid Row vocalist. Of course, Brad is now Brad Pitt, and Sebastian Bach… well, he still has long hair, I guess,” she joked.
